Getting Started with DevHub

DevHub is a free local-first developer workflow workspace. It provides a collection of everyday developer tools that run entirely in your browser. No data is ever sent to a server unless you explicitly use an AI-powered feature with your own API key.

The key features include JSON formatting and validation, Base64 encoding and decoding, JWT token inspection, UUID generation, regex testing with live match details, QR code generation, and many more. All processing happens locally using Web Crypto and standard browser APIs.

Why local-first matters: Privacy is not just a feature, it is a fundamental design principle. When you paste a JWT token or an API response into DevHub, that data never leaves your browser. There are no analytics on your input, no server-side processing, and no third-party tracking of what you transform.

DevHub also supports workflow chaining where you can connect multiple tools together. For example you could decode a Base64 string, format the resulting JSON, and then convert it to YAML — all in one saved recipe that you can reuse.

The AI assistance is entirely optional and uses a bring-your-own-key model. You configure your preferred provider (OpenAI, Gemini, Ollama, or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint) and the requests go directly from your browser to that provider. DevHub never sees your API key or your prompts.

Frequently asked questions

Is my blog content sent to DevHub servers?

No. Requests are sent directly from your browser to your configured AI provider using Bring Your Own Key (BYOK). DevHub has no intermediate server and stores none of your content.

Does this tool work offline?

No, AI formatting requires connecting to your chosen AI provider API (e.g. OpenAI, Gemini, or a local Ollama instance running on your machine).

What length of content is supported?

The tool supports up to 100,000 characters (~20,000 words) per formatting run, making it suitable for long-form essays, comprehensive guides, and multi-part tutorials.
